What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Technology Specialist position at Kennedale ISD (Region 11)?
Primary Purpose:
Facilitate the effective integration of digital technologies in instructional programs districtwide. Assist in the development and implementation of short-term and long-range plans for the successful use of technology to enhance the K-12 instructional program, including provide targeted support for diverse learners. Implement and coordinate a comprehensive and longitudinal plan to support successful integration of technology into the teaching and learning process through effective resource selection and staff development.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Master’s degree (preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of K-12 curriculum standards (TEKS) and state assessment;
Expertise in effective curriculum design and delivery;
Expertise in technologies best suited for K-12 instructional settings as well as strategies for successful integration, monitoring, and management ;
Experience using the following software platforms preferred: Clever, Destiny Resource Manager, Google Suite, Ascender, and DMAC;
Ability to develop and deliver technology training to adult learners based on needs assessment;
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
Three years successful teaching
Three years’ experience working with computer hardware and instructional software application
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Support
1. Assist in conducting annual needs assessment.
2. Uses data and research on best practices to improve the content and sequence of the teaching/learning process and its outcomes.
3. Effectively involves instructional staff in evaluating and selecting and/or developing technology based instructional materials aligned to student-learning needs.
4. Cooperates with school staff in scheduling technology based instructional activities to maximize learning outcomes.
5. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, and other instructional staff to develop PreK-12 curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology.
6. Facilitates district participation in technology programs and activities.
7. Collaborates with school librarians to provide leadership in the district's use of instructional technology resources to enhance learning.
8. Supports planning, implementation, and regular data-driven evaluation of instructional technology, including specific software and web-based instructional resources.
9. Participates in professional development, disseminates ideas and information to other professionals, and provides leadership in identifying trends and opportunities, as well as solving problems facing the profession.
Curriculum Support and Development
10. Assists staff in developing, maintaining, and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis of need.
11. Maintains department websites with current district adopted materials and links to internal and external instructional resources and professional growth opportunities.
12. Collaborates with administrators, teachers, media and technology staff, and students to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
13. Assists in the tracking of curricular resources through the district inventory management system.
14. Supports district and campus personnel in online assessment systems and integrating accessibility and accommodation tools in instruction.
15. Facilitates the use of existing technology resources in the teaching/learning process for all learners.
16. Models the integration of technology in all curriculum areas.
17. Organizes and conducts staff development in the areas of technology integration to align with the department goals.
18. Assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive staff development plan for the use of instructional technology.
19. Assist in the selection of technology software; maintains database of instructional software in the district.
