One position in our INFANT classroom and the other in our PRESCHOOL Classroom. (29 hours per week each position)

Infant experience strongly preferred!

Position Summary:

The Assistant Teacher is a 29 hour-per-week position, who would work mostly in one specific classroom, but at times need to substitute in other rooms. This position is responsible for assisting Lead Teacher in all aspects of the classroom, including developing a program that accepts and nurtures all children in a calm, loving and committed manner. The Assistant Teacher must also communicate effectively with parents and colleagues and monitor the safety and cleanliness of the classroom on a daily basis

Essential Functions:

1. Be warm, friendly, and sensitive to the needs of others.

2. Relate well to children an have good understanding of Early Childhood Education

3. Help to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all children and their families in the program.

4. Fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, mission and vision of the Learning Center and the KV YMCA.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age.

LEVEL 3 or HIGHER ON MAINE ROADS TO QUALITY or higher... or willing to get to a level 3

Experience and specialized training in the childcare field are strongly preferred but willing to train the right people!
