Responsibilities

• Support the sushi chefs by preparing ingredients, including slicing fish, vegetables, and other components with precision knife skills
• Assist in assembling sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and other Japanese delicacies according to established recipes and presentation standards
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and prep areas in compliance with food safety regulations
• Handle food products carefully during storage, preparation, and serving to ensure proper food handling procedures are followed
• Contribute to menu planning by suggesting fresh ingredient options and assisting with daily ingredient inventory checks
• Help with food preparation tasks such as cooking rice, preparing sauces, and portioning ingredients for service
• Support the team during busy service hours by ensuring timely meal preparation and excellent food service

Skills

• Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with food handling protocols
• Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations within the food industry or restaurant settings
• Knowledge of menu planning and meal preparation techniques specific to sushi or Japanese cuisine
• Excellent knife skills for precise slicing and ingredient preparation
• Understanding of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices in a commercial kitchen environment
• Experience in catering or food service roles that require attention to detail and customer satisfaction
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards for food presentation and safety
