Job Summary
The Wellness Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective delivery of the wellness services at Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC). The Wellness Manager is accountable to ensure that the Wellness Department programs promote holistic wellness, health promotion and disease prevention in collaboration with the Health Systems Departments. The Manager is accountable to ensure that wellness programs are operated as specified in grants and contracts in accordance with applicable statutes and regulations, the Tribe's policies and procedures and professional ethics. The Wellness Manager is responsible for integration of wellness services within the larger Health System Departments and works to improve the overall wellness of un'ina . The Wellness Manager is responsible for planning and implementing wellness education and other associated wellness activities for individual, group and/or community needs.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for supervisory duties to include interview, hire, provide orientations, mentor and train staff in the Wellness Department
- Implement quality improvement strategies for activities and programs within the Wellness Department in collaboration with other Tribal Departments
- Develop and incorporate holistic, culturally-honoring curricula and practices and promotion of traditional values in wellness programming
- Evaluate health education programs for effectiveness; perform research on relevant topics and develop and/or revise curricula modules and/or presentation materials as appropriate
- Responsible for ensuring all documentation is accurate in un'ina (patient's) electronic health record (EHR) and ensures all communication with un'ina (patient's) is documented in the EHR chart
- Develop and monitor the Wellness Department budget and expenditures
- Responsible for pursuing grants related to the Wellness Department and collaborating with the Grants Department
- Responsible for providing accurate and timely grant reports
- Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in health related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree
Experience
- Five (5) years' of work experience in health and wellness
- Five (5) years' of supervisory experience
- Three (3) of experience in budget management
Preferred
- Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
- Knowledge of traditional healing practices, including herbal medicine, spiritual healing and cultural ceremonies
- Ability to integrate traditional and holistic approaches with modern wellness programs
License/Certification
- Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, within 90 days of hire
Special Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain training within 90 days of hire
- Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Ability to effectively interpret needs and act as an advocate for a specified client population
- Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms

- Ability to design, prepare, deliver and modify course curriculum and associated educational aids

- Knowledge of community health services, agencies, and available resources
- Knowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
