Job Summary
The Recovery Advocate plays a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. This position is focused on promoting recovery, enhancing quality of life, and advocating for the rights of residents in various settings. The Recovery Advocate will work closely with residents to ensure their needs are met while fostering an environment of dignity and respect.
Duties
- Provide direct support to residents in recovery, assisting them with daily living activities and promoting independence.
- Advocate for resident rights, ensuring that individuals are treated with dignity and respect within the community.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that address the unique needs of each resident.
- Monitor medication administration and assist residents in understanding their medication regimens.
- Facilitate behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents, adhering to health and safety regulations.
- Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote socialization, skill development, and overall well-being.
- Document progress notes and maintain accurate records of resident interactions and care provided.
Qualifications
All candidates for the Recovery Advocate position must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Sobriety Requirement
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year of continuous sobriety at the time of application.
- Driver’s License
- Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Background Check
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check in accordance with state and organizational guidelines.
- Drug Screening
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and may be subject to random drug testing during employment.
- Preferred Experience
- Experience working in a substance use treatment center or related behavioral health setting is preferred, but not required.
