We’re looking for a highly skilled Assembly Operator IV with hands-on fiber optics experience to join a growing manufacturing team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys precision work, takes pride in quality, and wants to be part of building advanced optical products in a fast-paced production environment.
In this role, you’ll work directly with fiber optic cables and connectors, supporting assembly, termination, polishing, testing, inspection, and production activities. You’ll also help support new product builds, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and contribute ideas that improve efficiency and product quality.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with delicate components, and able to perform well in a team environment while managing changing priorities.
What You’ll Do
- Assemble, terminate, polish, and test fiber optic cables and connectors
- Perform advanced fiber optic cable and connector assembly for a variety of product configurations
- Set up and support test stations for different cable assemblies
- Conduct IL/RL testing and visual inspection on single-fiber and multi-fiber assemblies
- Perform workmanship and quality checks using work instructions, prints, and quality standards
- Assemble and package fiber optic connector components
- Operate production equipment such as fiber routing, coating, and over-molding equipment as needed
- Support prototype builds, test builds, and pre-release NPI builds as needed
- Measure components using calipers, gauges, and other measuring devices
- Complete production paperwork to maintain product traceability
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and support basic repairs
- Follow proper cleaning methods and contamination control practices for optical assembly
- Inspect your own work to ensure high quality and accuracy
- Help train team members on products, processes, and procedures
- Suggest process improvements to help reduce cost and improve manufacturing efficiency
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing experience
- Minimum 1 year of direct fiber optics experience required
- Hands-on experience with fiber optic assembly, termination, polishing, and testing
- Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills for delicate, detailed work
- Ability to read prints, drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and wearing required PPE
- Good time management skills and ability to work on multiple priorities
- Team-oriented mindset and strong sense of accountability
- Ability to understand written instructions in English
- Ability to operate machinery, move between work zones, and lift materials up to 5050 pounds
- Availability to work overtime or off-shifts as needed to support production goals
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience using optical and electronic test equipment such as optical power meters, oscilloscopes, DMMs, variable power supplies, attenuators, and optical or RF switches
- Experience with single-fiber and multi-fiber assemblies
- Knowledge of workmanship standards such as IPC
- Experience in prototype or new product introduction builds
- Excel skills for recording and organizing data
- Technical coursework beyond high school
