Description:
The Molecular Biologist Scientist will support the Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Cell Line Development team, with key responsibilities in capital equipment management, lab operations, asset and consumables inventory, IT support, and project management for facilities and engineering work. The role is highly collaborative, involving cross-functional partners and vendors, and offers opportunities to contribute to cellular and molecular biology activities over time.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee end-to-end capital equipment (CapEx) management: wishlist, purchasing, installation, closeout
- Track finances and maintain Maximo database: tagging, ARC submissions, asset inventory, and service contract management
- Coordinate entitlement reviews, maintenance strategies, and budget accountability
- Manage lab services: consumables inventory, order management, back-orders, pipette calibration, cleaning, and vendor relationships
- Represent scientific departments for problem escalation, equipment demos, procurement, and environmental/lab safety
- Provide IT support for equipment networking, data integrity, and automation integration
- Assist in media-buffer formulation lab operations, Compose & Capture implementation, and order management
- Manage facility and engineering projects: equipment moves, installs, calibrations, and certifications
- Oversee collaborations with external and internal partners (Avantor, CBRE, EHS&S, Wayne Moving & Storage, etc.)
- Possibility to grow into advanced cell and molecular biology duties
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of a BS degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or related scientific field
- 5 years experience with a Bachelor's or 2-3 years with a PhD in industry settings (PhD strongly preferred)
- Experience with aseptic techniques
- Attention to protocol, precision, and detail, particularly in cell culture and extraction
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Hands-on exposure to nucleic acid extraction, cell culturing, and cell characterization processes
Preferred Skills and Experiece:
- Experience working in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) environments
- Familiarity with mammalian cell culture and advanced cell characterization
- Experience in full workflow and use of automation systems
- Proficiency in Python for process automation
- Experience with pipette calibration/maintenance and inventory/order project management
