Position Summary
The Collections Representative will play a key role in providing an excellent customer experience and maintaining a high collection percentage for assigned customers. This position involves communication with customers to prevent accounts from reaching past due status and the collection of past due accounts. The right candidate will provide outstanding customer service, work collaboratively to resolve disputes, and understand customer contractual obligations.
Essential Functions
- Actively collect payments from customers with unpaid invoices.
- Develop relationships with primary contacts at assigned accounts.
- Resolve internal issues contributing to delayed payments.
- Work with customers to develop payment plans to bring accounts current.
- Identify and communicate risk concerns on assigned accounts.
- Maintain effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and standards.
- Maintain solid CEI, DSO, and past due results to meet department goals.
- Resolve short payments timely and provide support on unapplied or credit balance payments.
- Follow up on shortage claims and provide proof of delivery (POD) when needed.
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a professional finance/accounting environment.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a strong work ethic.
- Initiative to validate data accuracy and make recommendations based on findings.
- Proven track record of successful business-to-business collections.
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud/SAP is a plus.
- Knowledge of SaaS and/or software contracts is a plus.
