Kelly is seeking an experienced Laser Operator / CNC Machine Operator to join a metal fabrication team in Hendersonville, NC. This position is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, experience operating laser cutting equipment, and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality parts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Laser Operator will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring laser cutting machines to cut metal materials according to specifications, blueprints, and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, set up, and monitor laser cutting machines to cut metal parts according to job specifications.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
Load and unload materials onto the laser machine safely and efficiently.
Select proper machine settings, programs, materials, and cutting parameters based on job requirements.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, dimensions, and overall workmanship.
Make adjustments as needed to ensure parts meet tolerance and quality standards.
Perform basic machine maintenance, including cleaning, lens checks, nozzle checks, and troubleshooting minor issues.
Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges to verify part accuracy.
Maintain accurate production records and report any machine or quality issues to leadership.
Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies while operating equipment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Qualifications
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience operating laser cutting machines, CNC machines, or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred.
Experience in a metal fabrication, manufacturing, or production environment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
Strong understanding of measurements, tolerances, and quality control standards.
Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods during the shift.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues and make basic adjustments.
Must be dependable, safety-focused, and able to work well in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous CNC laser cutting experience.
Experience working with steel, aluminum, stainless steel, or other fabricated metals.
Knowledge of laser machine setup, material handling, and basic machine maintenance.
Forklift or material handling experience is a plus.
