What are the responsibilities and job description for the Biologist position at Kelly?
Use molecular cloning, transient plant transformation, DNA extraction, DNA sample cleanup, and basic sequence analysis to test recombinase variants for activity and specificity
- Hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory environment (academic or industry) and preferably also with plant tissue culture.
- Molecular cloning (restriction/ligation, Gibson assembly, Golden Gate, etc.)
- DNA extraction and purification
- Sequence analysis (basic bioinformatics tools like BLAST, CLC Workbench, Geneious)
- Transient plant transformation (e.g., Agroinfiltration)
- Plant tissue culture (preferred)
- Understanding of site-specific recombination systems (Cre/lox, FLP/FRT, etc.)
- Ability to assess activity and specificity of recombinase variants
- BA or BS in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, or related field
