Quality Engineer
Onsite - Monday - Friday
Smyrna, TN
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Job Functions:
- Communicates with customers (OEMs) to ensure assigned projects meet their requirements and Company's quality KPIs; Reviews market quality and offers improvement suggestions to customers, plants and other related departments; Works with OEM quality team, R&D and manufacturing plant members to eliminate repetitive quality concerns and lead development of permanent countermeasures.
- Attends functional tests to review phenomenon which was identified by vehicle drivers; Works with quality engineers of OEM test lab to identify needed improvements; Measures data with specialized instruments in facilities or customer’s facilities including dealerships.
- Analyzes data to make data-based hypotheses and develops action plans to address conditions reported by vehicle driver; Works with related engineers to deeply study root causes of phenomenon, and leads further investigation until root causes are identified.
- Submits reports to OEM and responsible departments about root cause(s); Reports include making sure to include investigation results and proposal for next action for further root cause investigations.
- Provides support for root cause investigation by responsible department; Recommends investigation method and validates results with responsible department with emphasis on the vehicle owner’s point of view.
- Leads actions for new model launches for the US market, conducting preparation plan, and following quality concerns in assigned parts for the taskforce period; Organizes task force activities of US market with all related department and communicates with customer.
- Communicates with OEM customer to ensure they have a clear understanding regarding root cause of phenomenon and permanent countermeasures; Explains and becomes thoroughly knowledgeable about investigations of new incidents and monitors the voice of customer (VOC) regarding operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of assigned areas; process equipment and flow knowledge.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of quality control assessment such as statistical process control.
- Ability to understand part, sub-assembly or system dimensional layouts.
Experience:
- One year of related experience at a professional level.
Education:
- A four-year degree Engineering, Industrial Technology or Engineering Technology preferred
Travel:
- Occasional day or overnight travel within the United States. Extended travel may be required if assigned
- Possible international travel to Mexico or Japan on occasion
Salary : $65,000 - $70,000
