Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 4–7 years of experience in consulting engineering, MEP, or AEC environments supporting building electrical systems.
• Proven expertise designing power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and signal systems for commercial, industrial, government, education, and residential projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards, and experience performing load calculations, short-circuit studies, coordination studies, and arc-flash analyses.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or Revit, with the ability to produce complete construction documents including one-lines, riser diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, and permit-ready drawings.

Summary

• The role is design-lead focused and supports commercial, industrial, government, education, residential, and public-sector projects involving power systems, lighting, signal systems, Title 24 compliance, short-circuit and coordination studies, arc-flash analysis, and photovoltaic solar design.
• This position leads the preparation and coordination of electrical engineering designs from concept through permit and construction support for building projects throughout California. The engineer is expected to produce code-compliant electrical documents, support multidisciplinary coordination, and, when licensed in California, take responsible charge and sign or stamp final engineering deliverables, which California law restricts to licensed engineers practicing electrical engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for commercial, industrial, education, government, and custom residential projects, including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, and signal systems.
• Prepare construction documents including plans, one-lines, risers, panel schedules, load calculations, and technical specifications for permit and construction issuance.
• Perform and review Title 24 lighting calculations, short-circuit analyses, coordination studies, voltage-drop calculations, and arc-flash studies as required by project scope.
• Support photovoltaic solar design and integration with building electrical infrastructure where applicable.
• Coordinate closely with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams, particularly where our AEC’s broader platform capabilities include civil, structural, mechanical, and survey services through partner firms such as Plump Engineering.
• Provide technical oversight and quality review for junior engineers and designers.
• Support construction administration activities including RFIs, submittals, punch walks, and field observations.
• Serve as Engineer of Record and sign/seal electrical engineering documents for California projects when licensed and assigned to do so.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 4–7 years of experience in electrical consulting or AEC building-systems design.
• Strong background in electrical and lighting design for building projects, especially commercial, industrial, institutional, government, or residential facilities.
• Working knowledge of California codes and standards, including NEC and California Title 24 energy requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit and standard engineering calculation tools.
• Strong design coordination and client communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active California PE license in Electrical Engineering, with ability to take responsible charge and sign/stamp engineering documents in California.
• Experience with arc-flash, coordination, and fault-current studies.
• Experience with PV solar design and public-sector or education projects.
