Kelly Science & Clinical is seeking a Senior Scientist to support a leading biopharmaceutical company's Discovery Oncology team in Gaithersburg, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-priority neuro-oncology program focused on advancing biomarker discovery and spatial biology applications in brain tumors.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and optimize multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) assays for neuro-oncology research
- Validate and assess up to 13 biomarkers in brain tumor tissue samples
- Perform immunofluorescence staining on FFPE tissues, including assay optimization and quality control
- Conduct image analysis using tools such as Halo, QuPath, Visiopharm, or ImageJ
- Support tissue processing, slide preparation, and histology workflows
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional oncology research teams
- Present scientific findings and provide project updates
- Troubleshoot assay challenges and drive continuous improvements in data quality
Required Qualifications
โ PhD in Immunology, Oncology, Cell Biology, Pathology, Neuroscience, or related field
โ 8 years of relevant research experience
โ Strong hands-on experience with immunofluorescence (IF) on FFPE tissues
โ Experience developing, optimizing, and validating IHC/IF assays
โ Proficiency with image analysis platforms (Halo, QuPath, Visiopharm, ImageJ)
โ Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced research environment
Preferred Qualifications
โญ Experience with multiplex IF platforms (Akoya/Phenoptics, CODEX, GeoMx, CosMx, etc.)
โญ Background in spatial biology and biomarker development
โญ Experience with brain tumors, neuro-oncology, or neural tissue biology
โญ Industry experience within biotech or pharma
