What You’ll Do
- Assist with preparing and portioning food, beverages, salads, desserts, and other menu items
- Prepare meals according to planned menus, therapeutic diets, and resident preferences
- Follow standardized recipes and proper food handling and food safety practices
- Ensure meals are attractive, appetizing, and served at the proper temperature
- Deliver and serve meals and snacks according to established schedules
- Accurately serve meals according to each resident’s diet order and food preferences
- Use proper portion-control utensils and techniques
- Label, date, store, and rotate food appropriately
- Monitor and record food, refrigerator, freezer, dishwashing, and sanitizer temperatures
- Wash dishes and maintain kitchen equipment and work areas
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and safe throughout meal preparation and service
- Follow infection control and safety procedures
- Assist with receiving and storing food and kitchen supplies
- Monitor inventory and report low stock or supply needs
- Use food, supplies, and equipment efficiently to help reduce waste
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and according to manufacturer and supervisory instructions
- Report equipment or safety concerns promptly
- Make recommendations that could improve recipes, menus, production, or meal service
- Work cooperatively with team members across the facility
- Interact with residents, families, and visitors in a positive and respectful manner
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality

Food service experience is a plus, but we’re looking for the right person and are willing to help you learn!
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Experience
- Food service experience preferred
- Six months of long-term care experience preferred
License/Certification
- Food Handler’s Permit (can obtain post employment)
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English
- Employees must meet all applicable state background check requirements before working in the facility
- Due to federal child labor restrictions regarding certain power-driven kitchen equipment, employees must be 18 years of age or older for this position
