What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Strategic Planning- Regulated Utility Sector position at Keller Executive Search?

As our Director of Strategic Planning, you will drive the development and implementation of near- and long-term strategic plans that will shape the future of our company. This role is designed to help us transition from growth-focused to strategically-focused operations.
Strategic Plan Development- Lead the development of comprehensive strategic plans considering regulatory, economic, environmental, and market conditions
- Identify key strategic objectives and initiatives supporting growth, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with senior leadership to prioritize and align strategic goals with corporate mission and vision
- Support FP&A activities to ensure budgets, forecasts and analyses incorporate current, accurate and risk-adjusted assumptions
- Ensure data consistency with the strategic plan across all financial planning
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market dynamics affecting the utility sector
- Analyze and interpret regulatory policies, market conditions, and emerging technologies
- Provide expert recommendations to leadership regarding regulatory compliance and risk management strategies
- Work closely with senior executives and departmental leaders to implement strategic initiatives across operational areas
- Facilitate communication between the strategy team, business managers, and external stakeholders
- Utilize data analysis, industry research, and forecasting tools to inform strategic decisions
- Lead the creation of performance metrics and KPIs to assess progress on strategic initiatives
- Assess potential risks and opportunities within the strategic planning process
- Develop appropriate mitigation strategies and crisis management protocols
- Lead and mentor employees throughout the organization
- Foster a collaborative, results-oriented culture emphasizing innovation and operational excellence
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, Economics, or related field
- MBA or advanced degree in finance (preferred)
- 10 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, or management consulting
- Experience in a regulated utility, energy, or infrastructure sector
- Strong understanding of regulatory environments (federal, state, local)
- Understanding of financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning
- Familiarity with sustainability practices and emerging technologies in the utility sector
- Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex strategic initiatives
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable strategies
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management capabilities
- Proficiency with strategic planning tools and methodologies
- Competitive base salary of approximately $200,000
