What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Design Engineer position at Kellenberger?
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for high precision CNC grinding and turning machines. In addition, the Engineer will support automation integrations for the machines. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Travel is expected up to 10% of time.

Responsibilities
- Generate detailed drawings of fabricated, machined, and sheet-metal parts.
- Use 3D CAD for detailed machine designs and concept layouts
- Develop mechanical and electromechanical assemblies based on project requirements
- Assure design feasibility and quality
- Check for interferences and perform simulations using 3D CAD software
- Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and components by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluids through analysis using available software
- Provide engineering support to customers, vendors, and sales teams for prospective project
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for machines, preferably machine tools, required.
- Demonstrated competency in 3D CAD required.
- Experience with common manufacturing materials and machining processes required.
- Ability to take both written and verbal instructions. Strong oral and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professional demeanor and discretion in handling of confidential information. Ability to work efficiently with a team of design and project engineers required.
- Experience in castings, weldments, and high-precision machined component designs
- Experience in sheet metal design
- Experience with fluids, such as pneumatics and hydraulics, with an understanding of their applications and basic components
- Knowledge of common ECO/ECN and design submission/review processes
- Experience with PDM vault environments to manage files and workflow
- Experience contributing and maintaining BOM’s in ERP systems
- Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD, preferably Solidworks or Inventor
- $85,000 - $110,000
