What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Keene Housing?
Keene Housing is seeking an experienced, full-time Staff Accountant to join our Finance Department. We are a nationally recognized leader in housing policy reform and affordable housing development, with 46 staff members, a $27 million annual agency budget, approximately 600 housing units owned or operated, and more than 800 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental subsidies administered.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Staff Accountant will process, analyze, and reconcile financial activity for Keene Housing and its subsidiaries. The Finance Department consists of four full-time employees. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, analytical ability, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while managing deadlines.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and work independently.
