QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education: 2 yr degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent strongly preferred.
2. Technology background in an educational setting preferred.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provide technical assistance to computer system users.
- Answer questions or resolve computer problems for employees in person, via telephone, or from remote location.
- May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)
- Answers users’ inquiries regarding computer software and hardware operation to resolve problems.
- Confers with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.
- Develops training materials and procedures, and/or trains users in proper use of hardware and software.
- Enters commands and observes system functioning to verify correct operations and detect errors.
- Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Maintains record of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities.
- Oversees the daily performance of computer systems.
- Prepares evaluations of software or hardware, and recommends improvements or upgrades.
- Reads technical manuals, confers with users, and conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems Refers major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
- Sets up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable,operating systems, and appropriate software.
- Supervises and coordinates workers engaged in problem-solving, monitoring, and installing data communication equipment and software.
