Role Description
We are seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant to join our team in an on-site, full-time role located in Melville, NY. The Legal Administrative Assistant’s duties and qualifications include:
- Act as an executive-type legal assistant responsible for regular exercise of independent judgment and discretion in high volume and, at times, high stress practices. Ability to multi-task and attention to detail a must.
- Accurate proofreading, typing and related preparation of correspondence, answers, responses to petitions, briefs, pleadings, improper practice charges, discovery demands, requests for proposal and auditors' letters; retainers and position statements; includes preparation of/revisions to exhibits, speech presentations and collective negotiations agreements. Includes significant use of Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel, and Westlaw. Transcription of limited recorded dictation. Assist with editing and preparation of speech outlines for numerous presentations. Entry of attorney time.
- Ability to pull cases, statutes, regulations; etc., from Westlaw. Ability to handle electronic court filings and assist with discovery.
- Pulling, organizing, and preparing files. Logging, scanning and e-mail distribution of all incoming mail and faxes.
- Telephone and e-mail communication with clients, arbitrators, mediators, and adversaries.
- Handling professional membership renewals and dues submission and related communications. Handling of registration and hotel reservations for conferences.
- Maintain calendar and docket. Regularly advise attorneys of upcoming deadlines.
- Proficiency in English language, including excellent grammar and syntax editing skills.
Salary range: $75,000-$85,000.
Prior labor and employment law practice experience preferred.
