At KCI Construction, our Project Engineers play a critical role in bringing projects to life. You’ll partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to support the day-to-day execution of heavy civil and DOT projects—helping ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and on budget. This is a hands-on role with real exposure to field operations, project controls, and team collaboration.
What You’ll Do
At KCI Construction, our Project Engineers play a critical role in bringing projects to life. You’ll partner with Project Managers and Superintendents to support the day-to-day execution of heavy civil and DOT projects—helping ensure work is delivered safely, on schedule, and on budget. This is a hands-on role with real exposure to field operations, project controls, and team collaboration.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and track submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to keep projects moving forward
- Maintain project logs (submittals, RFIs) and ensure timely follow-up and resolution
- Track production for self-performed work and support the team in meeting productivity goals
- Measure and verify in-place quantities for unit price work
- Assist with project reporting, meeting coordination, and documentation
- Support schedule updates and participate in weekly progress meetings
- Maintain accurate as-built drawings and assist with project closeout documentation, including O&M manuals
- Collaborate with estimating and project teams as needed
- Take on additional responsibilities that support successful project delivery
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 1–3 years of construction experience preferred (internships count)
- Exposure to highway/roadway or heavy civil projects is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with P6 and/or Vista is a plus
