Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive patient care across various settings, including hospital, outpatient, and urgent care environments. This role requires proficiency in clinical assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment planning, with experience in diverse medical specialties such as critical care, emergency medicine, primary care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and more. The Physician Assistant will collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical standards. Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, and eClinicalWorks is essential for efficient documentation and data management.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical histories using aseptic techniques.
- Perform diagnostic evaluations utilizing medical imaging, laboratory tests, and diagnostic procedures such as spinal taps or catheterizations.
- Administer injections, medications, IV infusions, and manage airway interventions including ventilator support.
- Provide acute pain management, triage in emergency settings, and manage complex cases in ICU or Level I/II trauma centers.
- Document clinical findings accurately within EMR systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Assist in procedures such as suturing, dermal fillers administration, dermabrasion, radiation therapy support, and esthetic laser treatments.
- Participate in clinical research trials related to infectious disease care, pain management, or other specialties; collect and analyze data for quality improvement.
- Coordinate discharge planning and post-acute care for patients in nursing homes or home health settings.
- Support telehealth consultations and provide health coaching for diverse patient populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care across inpatient and outpatient environments.
Qualifications
- Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine (including ER or trauma center experience), ICU or PICU settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/10).
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology.
- Experience administering injections and performing physical examinations with aseptic technique.
- Ability to handle complex diagnostic evaluation including cardiac catheterization or spinal taps; manage airway via ventilator support if needed.
- Critical care experience preferred; familiarity with infectious disease care, hospice & palliative medicine, or addiction counseling is a plus.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with a focus on patient safety and confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment across multiple healthcare settings including outpatient clinics or inpatient units.
