KCD, Inc. is seeking a creative and technically skilled Junior to Mid-Level Event Production Designer to join our experiential design team. Reporting to the Creative Director and Technical Director, you will be responsible for translating innovative concepts into compelling spatial experiences for luxury and emerging fashion brands. This role combines creative vision with technical precision, requiring expertise in scenography, architecture, and spatial design across 2D and 3D mediums. You will collaborate across disciplines to conceptualize and execute high-impact fashion shows, installations, pop-ups, and experiential brand activations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Design & Visualization
- Develop comprehensive design packages including floor plans, technical drawings, 2D/3D renderings, and construction documentation from concept through final execution
- Create detailed spatial visualizations and photoreal renderings to communicate design intent to clients and internal stakeholders
- Produce mood boards, inspiration decks, and visual references that clearly articulate design direction and aesthetic vision
- Design and organize creative presentation materials that elevate project storytelling and client communication
Technical Execution
- Generate production-ready technical drawings and construction documents (elevation, section, detail drawings) in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or SketchUp for vendor coordination and on-site implementation
- Produce print files, specification sheets, and construction mockups that ensure clarity between design intent and vendor execution
- Conduct thorough venue research and site analysis to inform design solutions and technical feasibility
- Develop detailed schedules, material specifications, and build sequences in collaboration with production teams
Collaboration & Project Management
- Partner with Creative Directors and Design Leads to refine concepts and deliver design support on assigned projects
- Work seamlessly with production teams, vendors, and fabricators to navigate project scope, timelines, and technical requirements
- Manage the flow of information between design, production, and external partners through clear, professional communication
- Contribute to creative development sessions and design reviews, offering thoughtful input on concept evolution
- Support the design team with resource organization, template maintenance, and process documentation
Research & Innovation
- Maintain a forward-thinking perspective by continuously researching emerging trends in scenography, spatial design, architectural innovation, and visual culture
- Stay informed of luxury brand aesthetics, fashion industry developments, and cultural references relevant to project briefs
- Contribute fresh ideas and inspiration to departmental initiatives and creative direction
- Engage with diverse design disciplines—art installations, cinema, photography, and architecture—to inform and elevate your design perspective
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience & Education
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in event design, scenography, set design, architecture, or interior design
- Formal training in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Set Design/Scenography, or related field
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing spatial design projects, technical drawings, and 3D visualizations
- Understanding of luxury brand aesthetics and the fashion industry (or strong desire to develop this knowledge)
Technical Skills
- Required: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp for technical drafting and 3D modeling
- Required: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for design presentations and materials
- Preferred: Vectorworks, Rhinoceros, or Grasshopper for advanced visualization and design parametrics
- Preferred: Rendering tools (Podium SU, V-Ray, Lumion, or similar) for photoreal visualizations
- Required: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with project management and documentation tools

RESPONSIBILITIES BY PROJECT PHASE
Concept & Strategy: Participate in briefing sessions, research client brand and competitive landscape, and contribute design thinking to initial concept development
Design Development: Create detailed design packages including floor plans, elevations, renderings, and mood boards; refine designs based on feedback and technical feasibility
Production & Documentation: Develop construction documents, material specifications, and vendor coordination materials; manage QC review of vendor proposals and quotes
Execution & Coordination: Collaborate with production and fabrication teams during build phases; support on-site implementation and troubleshooting as needed
