Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our Madison, AL. logistics team. This position is second shift from 3pm - 11:30pm. Training will be for one month on first shift from 8am -4:30pm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating transportation activities, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of freight, and maintaining communication with drivers and clients. This role is crucial in optimizing our transportation management systems and enhancing overall operational efficiency.
Duties
- Process Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, identify inefficiencies, and implement strategies to optimize the operation, minimizing cost
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve issues in the supply chain, such as production delays, transportation disruptions, and unforeseen challenges. Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and provide documentation and reporting as required by KC Management and our customer base
- Oversight: Manage the flow of materials and goods from origin to destination, ensuring timely pickup and delivery to meet Plant and Supplier production schedules.
- Utilize GPS and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to track shipments and monitor delivery progress.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding routes, schedules, and any changes in plans.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including freight details and driver assignments.
- Address any issues or delays promptly to minimize disruption in service.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching or logistics management is preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems and GPS technology.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of freight operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
- Proficient in using software applications related to logistics and dispatching.
- Advanced Excel skills
