The Accounting Supervisor will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance within a regulated insurance environment. This role partners closely with leadership and plays a key role in team development, process improvement, and financial integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP and banking activity
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare trial balances
- Prepare and analyze quarterly and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
- Support statutory reporting and insurance-related filings
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and coordination
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 2 (AP Specialist & Banking Accountant)
- Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (statutory accounting experience a plus)
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting systems
- Insurance or financial services industry experience preferred
