What are the responsibilities and job description for the Functional Safety Engineer position at Kaygen, Inc.?
Required Qualifications:
• 5 years of experience in functional safety engineering (7–10 preferred)
• Strong hands-on experience with Safety PLC systems and programming
• Proven experience in safety circuit design, review, and validation
• Experience conducting safety audits and compliance assessments
• Functional Safety Certification (e.g., TÜV Functional Safety Engineer / FSE)
• Strong understanding of:
o ISO 13849-1
o ANSI B11
o OSHA standards
Education Requirements:
• Technical associate’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field
• Functional Safety certification (FSE / TÜV) is required.
Nice to Have (Preferred Skills):
- Experience with risk assessment tools
- Knowledge of FMEA / FMEDA methodologies
- Hands-on experience with Safety PLC platforms such as:
- Allen-Bradley Guard Logix
- Omron Sysmac Safety
- Siemens TIA Portal / Step 7 (Safety)
- Keyence GC Configurator
- Toyopuc PCWin Safe
