Controls & Robotics Trainer/ Instructor

Overview:

Seeking an experienced Controls & Robotics Trainer / Instructor to support manufacturing operations through technical training, equipment launch activities, PLC troubleshooting, robot programming, and production support. This is a hands-on role that combines classroom instruction, on-the-job training (OJT), and direct involvement with manufacturing equipment, controls systems, and startup activities.

Responsibilities:

• Lead training sessions for both new hires and experienced maintenance and technical team members.
• Develop and maintain technical training plans and curriculum as new technologies are introduced.
• Deliver classroom instruction and hands-on OJT training.
• Perform offline and online robot programming activities.
• Verify new equipment meets established safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Support equipment preparation, validation, setup, and trials at supplier and manufacturing locations.
• Assist with equipment installation, startup, commissioning, and production launch activities.
• Develop and implement equipment countermeasures during setup and trial phases.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and support for PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment.
• Support manufacturing facilities throughout North America and internationally.
• Share subject matter expertise with maintenance, production, and engineering teams.
• Work directly on the production floor while supporting training and equipment activities.

Required Qualifications:

• 8 years of manufacturing maintenance, controls, automation, or production engineering experience.
• 8 years of PLC troubleshooting and logic modification experience.
• Experience troubleshooting industrial automation and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial robotics, manufacturing equipment, and automation systems.
• Experience developing and delivering technical training programs and curriculum.
• Ability to train employees in both classroom and hands-on environments.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
• Ability to work extended hours, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Industrial robot programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and start of production activities.
• Knowledge of industrial networking systems such as Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, and similar protocols.
• Automotive manufacturing experience.
• Maintenance leadership, mentoring, or technical instructor experience.
• Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
