Job Posting: Part-Time House Manager & Mentor
Organization: Sisterly Love House of Healing
Location: Tarboro, NC (Town of Leggett)
Employment Type: Part-Time (Flexible Hours)
About the Mission
At Sisterly Love House of Healing (SLHOH) we provide a safe haven for adolescents aged 18–21 to heal, grow, and prepare for self-sufficiency. We believe that with the right mentorship, housing stability, and life-skills training, every young person can build a resilient future. We are seeking a dedicated House Manager who embodies these values and is ready to champion the success of our residents.
The Role
As the House Manager, you are the heartbeat of the home's daily operations. This is a multifaceted role for someone who is a "doer" and a "leader." You will provide the practical support residents need to get through their week while serving as a consistent, positive role model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mentorship & Guidance: Build trust-based relationships with residents, offering academic support, career encouragement, and emotional guidance.
- Transportation & Logistics: Provide reliable transportation for residents to job interviews, medical appointments, and educational programs.
- Life Skills Coaching: Assist residents in developing daily habits, including financial literacy, meal preparation, and personal organization.
- Household Oversight: Ensure the home remains a clean, safe, and nurturing environment. This includes performing light inspections and ensuring residents contribute to household chores.
- Conflict Resolution: Act as a calm presence to diffuse interpersonal conflicts between residents and ensure that House Rules are consistently respected.
- Mission Advocacy: Ensure all daily interactions align with our goal of fostering independence and confidence.
Candidate Requirements
- A "Coach" Mindset: Ability to balance authority with empathy. You know how to enforce rules while maintaining a supportive relationship.
- Flexibility: This role requires a flexible weekly schedule to accommodate the varying needs of resident appointments and school/work shifts.
- Reliability: Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Conflict Management: Prior experience in social work, youth mentorship, or residential management is highly preferred.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with young adults and report progress to the organization's leadership.
Why Join Us?
- Direct Impact: You will see the immediate results of your mentorship as residents transition to independent living.
- Flexible Schedule: Ideal for someone looking for meaningful, part-time work.
- Supportive Environment: You are part of a team dedicated to social change and youth empowerment.
Benefits of working with SLHOH
- Paid Training & Certification: We invest in your professional growth. The right candidate will receive fully-funded training and certification in CPR & First Aid, as well as specialized Conflict Resolution training.
- Gas Reimbursement: We value your time and your vehicle. All mileage used for transporting residents to appointments, work, or school will be reimbursed at the standard rate.
Working with young adults (18–21) requires a unique blend of "firm boundaries" and "empathetic mentorship" as they navigate the bridge to independence.
