Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our outpatient clinic, specializing in mental health and primary care services. Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Perform diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and spirometry, under provider direction.
- Perform vital signs checks and document patient information accurately.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and ensure proper documentation.
- Utilize coding knowledge to assist with patient records and billing processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety standards.
- Conduct phlebotomy and handle specimen collection for laboratory testing.
- Engage with patients to provide education on treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Assist in urgent care settings, ensuring prompt attention to patients’ needs.
- Work collaboratively with team members to enhance the overall patient experience, particularly in geriatrics.
Administrative Duties:
- Greet and check in patients, ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information.
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
- Answer and manage phone calls, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff or provider.
- Maintain and update patient medical records in compliance with clinic policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Verify insurance benefits and process patient payments when applicable.
Experience
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification: Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA or RMA) preferred.
- Previous experience in an outpatient clinic setting preferred.
- Proficiency in taking vital signs, performing EKGs, spirometry, phlebotomy, and medication administration.
- Experience with mental health patients and/or primary care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical and technical skills, including lab procedures and diagnostic testing.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic office software.
- Compassionate and patient-focused with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
