Our client is seeking an Accountant I for a temporary assignment. The Accountant will follow established procedures, performs detailed accounting assignments requiring knowledge of accounting theory and principles. Work is subject to general review and under the direction of the Accounting Manager. Provides specialized or general analysis support in various accounting functions.
Essential Functions
- Ensure timely and accurate recordings of expenses, income, assets, and liabilities by reviewing and monitoring internal controls
- Perform departmental adjustments and allocations for departmental accounting reporting
- Reviews and analyzes journal vouchers, accounting classifications and other accounting/financial statements, records and reports
- Identify problems and propose solutions
- Perform month end close procedures
- Prepare entries for the month end close
- Prepare and support the regulatory reports and schedules function (i.e. IRS tax reporting, Sales Tax, Property Tax returns, Call Reports, etc.)
- Prepare and maintain reconciliations submitted
- Reconcile the Loan and Share Accounting Process
- Perform Accounts Payable functions as needed
- Perform the funds transfer (wire) process as needed
- Perform the Payroll function as needed
- Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal employees, and service providers
- Provide supporting documentation for all Examinations and Audits
- Develop schedules relating to the budgeting/planning process
- 5 years’ Accounting experience, or Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or closely related field and 2 plus years’ Accounting experience.
- Advanced knowledge of general accounting practices and principles;
- Advanced knowledge in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint;
- Knowledge in Budget development, forecasting and variance analysis;
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people;
- Ability to effectively research and report data and issues;
- Ability to organize, coordinate and prioritize a variety of activities simultaneously;
- Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact;
- Ability to distinguish and manage confidential material and information;
- Ability and desire to work in a team environment, and ability to work independently.
