General Liability Litigation Associate

The Kaufman Dolowich Woodbury, Long Island office—part of a nationally recognized law firm with more than 250 attorneys nationwide and honored by U.S. News as one of the “Best Companies to Work For – Law Firms”—is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney with 1 years of experience to join our growing and highly collaborative General Liability Defense team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on sophisticated, high-exposure litigation matters alongside experienced litigators. Associates receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, strong mentorship, and early responsibility handling a broad range of general liability defense matters.

Responsibilities

• Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution in a collaborative team environment
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery demands and responses, legal memoranda, and other litigation-related documents
• Conduct court appearances, depositions, inspections, mediations, settlement negotiations, and motion practice
• Handle a broad range of general liability defense matters, including premises liability and New York Labor Law construction accident cases
• Communicate directly with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance
• Participate in oral arguments, court conferences, and trial preparation
• Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
  
  

Qualifications

• JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• Admission to practice law in New York required
• 1 year of insurance defense and/or general liability litigation experience
• Experience handling general liability defense matters, including premises liability and construction accident litigation preferred
• Exceptional legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong organizational and case management abilities with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Base Salary Range: $100,000 – $150,000 Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary represents one component of Kaufman Dolowich’s comprehensive Total Rewards package, which also includes a discretionary and billable hours-based bonus program and a robust benefits offering for full-time employees.
