We are seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Class A Driver / Crude Hauler to support field operations in Fort Lupton, Colorado.
Summary
The Crude Hauler is responsible for safely transporting crude oil and related products between field locations, production facilities, and designated delivery points while maintaining compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, company, and environmental regulations. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, equipment maintenance, and operational efficiency in demanding field environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial vehicles and tanker combinations in compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations.
- Safely load, transport, and unload crude oil and related products while following proper cargo securement and transfer procedures.
- Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with company commercial driving standards throughout employment.
- Maintain all required licenses and endorsements throughout employment.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections according to FMCSA requirements.
- Operate trucks and trailer combinations equipped with manual transmissions. (Automatic-only experience will not be considered.)
- Complete and maintain Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs), electronic or paper logbooks, Hours-of-Service documentation, and all other required records in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 395–396.
- Maintain working knowledge of FMCSA regulations (49 CFR Parts 382–399).
- Monitor equipment performance, identify and report to management potential mechanical or safety concerns.
- Perform roadside duties and emergency roadside repairs such as: Installation of tire chains for inclement weather; Tire changes; Brake inspections or adjustments (when applicable).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and field personnel regarding schedules, operational issues, or safety concerns.
- Resolve routine information requests with minimal supervision.
- Assist with special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Licenses & Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A required with a current Tanker (N) and Hazardous Materials (H) endorsements (X endorsement).
- Ability to pass: DOT drug screening; Background check; FMCSA Clearinghouse query.
- Have a valid DOT medical examination card.
- Have an acceptable driving record and MVR required in accordance with FMCSA/DOT and KPK's commercial driving standards.
- High school diploma or GED.
- General knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
The following experience is preferred but not required:
- Prior oil & gas field driving experience.
- Previous crude hauling experience.
- Water hauling experience.
- Winch truck experience.
- Oversize and heavy haul experience.
- Tanker hauling experience in industrial or energy sectors.
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
Candidates must be able to:
- Frequently lift 10–50 lbs. and occasionally lift 50–100 lbs.
- Constant safely climb in and out of truck cabs and different styles of trailers. Frequently climb stairs.
- Frequently bend, crouch, kneel, twist, reach, push, pull, and balance as required.
- Walk or stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Drive and operate commercial vehicles for up to 11 hours per day
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Perform physically demanding tasks in field environments.
Compensation
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on experience
