Position Summary:
The Communications Manager is responsible for all internal and external communications at Katy Christian Ministries (KCM), ensuring clear, consistent, and mission-aligned messaging across the organization. This role focuses on storytelling, community awareness, and information sharing to strengthen KCM’s voice, support engagement, and build trust with clients, donors, volunteers, and the public. The Communications Manager works collaboratively with staff, committees, and community partners to support KCM’s outreach and communication goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Communication & Coordination
- Participate in Engagement & Communications, Development, and special event committee meetings. Attend Operations Committee meetings as needed.
- Support committee efforts by contributing communication strategies that align with annual organizational goals.
- Develop and implement annual communications goals and objectives each fall for the upcoming year.
- Meet regularly with department directors to gather program updates, stories, and service needs for public sharing.
- Coordinate with the Grant Officer to fulfill communication-related grant objectives.
- Maintain clear records of communication outputs for grants and audits.
- Collect and report communication-related data and analytics for evaluation and reporting purposes.
- Support internal communications to ensure staff are informed of relevant updates and initiatives.
Storytelling & Community Engagement
- Developmission-driven content that highlights the impact of KCM’s programs and services.
- Collect stories, testimonials, and community feedback through annual surveys and targeted outreach (e.g., events, programs, Resale Stores).
- Distribute an Annual Community Feedback Survey each January.
- Create and distribute quarterly newsletters (digital and/or print) to keep stakeholders informed and engaged.
- Maintain and update Amazon Wishlist with current needs for administrative and program areas.
Events & Campaign Support
- Attend and provide communications support for all KCM fundraisers and special events.
- Maintain and update the Annual Calendar of Events; collaborate with event committees to support planning and communication needs.
- Promote KCM-related events to the broader community through internal and external communication channels.
- Lead awareness campaigns for causes relevant to KCM’s services (e.g., domestic violence, child abuse, mental health), in collaboration with program directors.
- Support the communication needs of collaborative and community-led fundraising events.
Media, Publications, & Digital Presence
- Maintain consistent messaging and brand voice across all communications and platforms (not including direct marketing).
- Oversee KCM’s social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, Alignable), ensuring timely, mission-focused posts.
- Coordinate email communications (e.g., Constant Contact) with leadership initiatives.
- Maintain and update the WordPress website with relevant program updates, needs, events, and notices.
- Maintain KCM’s Google Business Profile and ensure accuracy across digital platforms.
- Write and distribute press releases to promote events, key services, and organizational updates.
- Seek earned media opportunities and maintain relationships with local media outlets.
Creative Communications Production

Develop and produce content such as:
- Annual Impact Report
- Informational brochures and flyers
- Event programs and signage
- PowerPoint presentations for internal or external use
- Basic creation of short videos for social media, storytelling, or informational purposes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred).
- 2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on storytelling and clarity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience Comfortable updating website content using WordPress or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Constant Contact, JotForm, and Google platforms.
- Graphic design experience (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or Inkscape).
- Fluency in Spanish and English preferred.
- Basic video editing skills preferred.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
