Position Title : Payroll Analyst/Specialist
Location: Alexandria, VA – Hybrid with 4 Days Onsite and Friday Remote
Duration: Long term Contract
Job Description:
Resources to support payroll operations by processing payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements. This role requires a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist with strong experience in payroll processing, audits, and issue resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly and weekly payroll accurately and within established deadlines.
- Review and validate employee timekeeping records, leave accrual balances, overtime, and payroll
- adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Maintain payroll records, including deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, and direct deposit
- information.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate with Human Capital regarding employee status changes and payroll actions.
- Process payroll-related transactions including retroactive pay, bonuses, and termination-related vacation
- payments.
- Generate payroll reports and support audit requests as needed.
- Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five (5) years of payroll experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll processing, payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and regulations.
- Experience with payroll systems such as Oracle and Kronos.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
- Must be highly detail-oriented with strong focus on accuracy.
- Experience supporting large organizations or unionized environments.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
Qualifications
- Requires have a minimum of 2 years of relevant payroll experience, a bachelor’s degree. FPC and advanced degrees are preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience as a payroll analyst related to engagements for financial institutions, real estate, public and/or private sector, Federal, State or Local government or other specialized area defined by a task order.
