Founding Co-Founder Founding Board Member (Nonprofit, Pre-Funding)
Karma Infinity | New Jersey-based | Remote (NYC Metro preferred)
About Karma Infinity
Karma Infinity is a forming New Jersey nonprofit building a planetary-healing ecosystem across community health, education, climate resilience, regenerative systems, and responsible/transparent AI. Our mission is to accelerate evidence-based solutions that uplift people and planet, while holding a high bar for ethics, governance, and public trust.
This role is for builders who want to help architect the foundation of a long-term public-benefit institution.
Important: Read Before Applying
This is a true founding role at the nonprofit level. There is no salary at this stage.
We are recruiting a small number of exceptional founding leaders to complete nonprofit formation and become the initial governance and operating nucleus. Selected candidates will be named Founding Co-Founders and will also serve as Founding Board Members and/or Officers (role-dependent).
Any future paid leadership role (if/when funding arrives) must be approved through formal nonprofit governance processes, including conflict-of-interest review and reasonable-compensation standards.
Who We’re Recruiting (Choose One Primary Track)
We are intentionally hiring for clear ownership lanes (not “do everything” generalists):
Track A — Governance, Compliance & Institutional Design (Secretary-track)
You build the governance spine that funders trust.
Examples of scope: bylaws, board operations, core policy set (conflict of interest, recordkeeping, whistleblower), meeting minutes/decision logs, committee structure, compliance-ready documentation.
Track B — Development, Grants & Strategic Partnerships
You build the funding engine and external credibility.
Examples of scope: grant strategy, funder pipeline, partnership development, narrative program packaging, donor communications, launch plan for fundraising operations.
Track C — Finance, Controls & Sustainability (Treasurer-track)
You build the financial integrity layer that prevents chaos later.
Examples of scope: budgets, internal controls, basic accounting processes, financial reporting cadence, compliance hygiene, and a sustainable 12–18 month operating model.
Optional Track D — Tech Trust (Responsible AI / Privacy)
You help translate “responsible AI” into real governance and systems.
Examples of scope: privacy-by-default practices, AI risk/ethics guardrails, data governance, transparency processes, secure operations.
What Board-Level Leadership Means Here
This is not a symbolic title. Founding board/officer leadership includes real fiduciary responsibility and stewardship of public trust. You will be expected to operate with integrity, disclose conflicts of interest, and support decisions that prioritize mission and compliance over personal gain.
Time Commitment (Formation Sprint)
5–10 hours/week for an initial 8–12 week formation sprint (remote), then reassess. Some meetings may be scheduled in NYC/NJ when helpful.
What “Best-of-the-Best” Looks Like
We are looking for evidence of execution and mature judgment, such as:
You have built, governed, scaled, or funded real organizations or programs (nonprofit, public-benefit, or mission-driven)
You can ship documents, decisions, and systems (not just ideas)
You have high trust standards: transparency, clean governance, and ethical discipline
You communicate clearly, disagree respectfully, and document decisions
You can commit consistent time during the formation sprint
This role is NOT a fit if you are seeking a paid job immediately, exploring casually, or unable to commit consistent weekly time.
What You Get
Founding-level authorship of a public-benefit institution
Real decision-making authority from day one
Public recognition as a Founding Co-Founder
The opportunity to build an ethical, evidence-based, planet-first organization designed to outlast its founders
