Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and toileting to ensure their comfort and dignity.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately and report any abnormalities promptly.
- Support medical procedures such as catheter care, medication administration under supervision, and basic wound care following aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care plans, especially in specialized areas like dementia care, memory care, or behavioral health settings.
- Assist with transfers using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices to promote safety during patient mobility.
- Follow infection control protocols diligently, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and seniors with complex health conditions like Alzheimer's or trauma-related injuries.
Experience
- Prior experience working in healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home care is highly valued.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient safety standards such as HIPAA compliance.
- Critical care experience including ICU or emergency medicine roles enhances your ability to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
- Familiarity with specialized care areas such as hospice, infectious disease management, pediatric or behavioral health settings is advantageous.
- Ability to perform technical tasks such as phlebotomy or working with advanced medical equipment like oxygen therapy devices or DME (Durable Medical Equipment).
