We're seeking a Seasonal Garden Maintenance Lead to oversee a small team and lead the care and upkeep of gardens and landscapes throughout the growing season. Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Supervise and lead a team of gardeners ensuring efficient task delegation and maintaining high-quality work standards. Must work well making decisions independently to guide the team and ensure team efficiency.
- Routine Maintenance: Oversee and participate in all aspects of garden upkeep, including pruning, planting, watering, fertilizing, and pest control, adhering to safety and environmental regulations. (This includes but is not limited to, planting, weeding, raking, pruning, using a leaf blower, watering, etc.)
- Client Relations: Communicate with clients to understand preferences, address concerns, and recommend enhancements while maintaining professionalism.
- Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections to uphold superior garden appearance and health, promptly addressing any issues that arise.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of activities, inventory, and plant health, generating necessary reports and ensuring clear communication with supervisors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in garden maintenance or landscape management.
- Strong knowledge of Colorado plants, horticultural practices, and landscaping techniques.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in time management and resource allocation.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
Additional Details:
- Hours & Compensation: Seasonal position from end of March/beginning of April to mid November (weather pending) approximately 30 hours per week, paying $30 per hour with the potential to earn an end-of-season bonus. Monday-Friday, no weekend work, start time ranges due to temperature 7:30a-9a.
- Responsibilities & Expectations: Leading a small team, managing maintenance schedules, problem-solving, and ensuring garden cleanliness and health.
- Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in extreme weather, and travel across the Denver Metro area. Must have reliable transportation, as this position travels to multiple gardens per day.
- Note: Due to seasonality, this has a varied schedule.
