What are the responsibilities and job description for the Systems Administrator III position at Kapitus?
As a Systems Administrator III at Kapitus, you will serve as a senior-level technical resource responsible for architecting, implementing, securing, and supporting critical infrastructure within a fast-paced fintech environment. You will own complex systems across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid platforms, while ensuring the highest standards of availability, security, and compliance required of a financial technology organization. What you will do:
- Serve as the escalation point ("buck stops here") for complex infrastructure issues from the helpdesk L1/L2 support teams.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, highly available infrastructure across private, public, and hybrid cloud environments, with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure.
- Lead architecture and deployment of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions aligned with fintech regulatory and compliance requirements (SOC 2, PCI-DSS, SOX).
- Administer and harden Windows Server environments, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD), and Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Manage endpoint security, Mobile Device Management (MDM) via Microsoft Intune/Endpoint Manager, JAMF and enforce Zero Trust security principles.
- Implement and maintain Identity and Access Management (IAM) controls, including Azure AD Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations.
- Partner with network infrastructure assisting with firewalls, Cisco Meraki switches, and access points - ensuring segmentation and security best practices.
- Assist in developing and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or PowerShell DSC to drive automation and reduce manual toil.
- Administer and support virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Citrix Virtual Desktops on Azure.
- Manage cloud-based backup and disaster recovery solutions; own RTO/RPO objectives and conduct regular DR testing.
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance, capacity, and security posture across all infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with Information Security to maintain compliance with fintech regulatory frameworks and internal security policies.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency, reduce cost, and strengthen security.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior systems administrators and helpdesk staff.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Security, and Compliance to support business-critical initiatives.
- Coordinate with managed service and outsourcing partners to ensure SLA adherence and compliance obligations are met.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive systems administration experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or L3 capacity.
- Experience in a fintech, financial services, or similarly regulated industry strongly preferred.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Networking, Azure AD, and Azure Security Center.
- Mastery of Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Groups architecture.
- Strong experience with Active Directory and Azure Active Directory, including Group Policy, RBAC, and Conditional Access Policies.
- Proficiency with virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere and Citrix Virtual Desktops on Azure.
- Hands-on experience with network technologies: firewalls, Cisco Meraki, DHCP, DNS, VPN, and network segmentation.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) and scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to fintech: PCI-DSS, SOC 2 Type II, SOX IT General Controls.
- Experience with cloud-based backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust security architecture principles and implementation.
- Experience with SIEM tools, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and vulnerability management platforms.
- Familiarity with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Management) and ITIL best practices.
- Experience with Salesforce administration fundamentals is a plus.
- Ability to write scripts and leverage APIs to automate workflows and integrate systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
