An Advanced Laser Systems Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining automated laser cutting machines to produce precision parts. Additionally, this role may be responsible for downstream automated or semi-automated operations. This role involves tasks such as loading programs, selecting appropriate nozzles, and ensuring quality control according to established specifications and technical drawings. The Automated Lasers have a fully integrated system for cutting, sorting, and storing sheet metal and finished product. As an Advanced Laser Operator, you will manage the entire production process from loading raw material to picking and sorting finished parts, offering a streamlined, automated workflow on multiple lasers and ancillary equipment. Our Advanced Laser Operator will also be responsible for preparing systems to run “lights-out” and may be required to work in an “on-call” status in support of lights-out operation. As an Advanced Laser operator, you will also play a role in the maintenance of the laser machine and keeping the work area clean and safe.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operation and Maintenance:
- Operating and monitoring the Laser Automation system for loading, unloading, sorting, and storing sheet metal parts.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle materials.
- Troubleshooting technical issues with the system, including diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems.
- Communicating with outside Tech support or Laser monitoring services
- Perform start and end shift inspection and documentation for all equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, executing all 5S Safety assignments.
- System Integration and Optimization:
- Support the integration of the Automated Laser system with other production processes.
- Optimizing the system's performance for increased throughput and efficiency.
- Documenting technical problems and resolutions.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of laser cutting processes and equipment.
- Ability to document and make cutting adjustments.
- Experience with automation systems, including PLC, HMI, servos, and robotics.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and block diagrams.
- Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Automation Software Proficiency:
- Familiarity with Mitsubishi and TRUMPF software for controlling the system.
- Understanding software features such as SortCAM for part picking and sorting.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to be on call and assist Team with troubleshooting
- Understanding shop math and mechanical blueprints
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal customers and 3rd party support providers.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
- Stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require walking, bending, kneeing, crouching, and reaching
