Position Description:
The APRN provides palliative care consultations in a hospital and clinic settings and collaborates with physicians and other hospital and hospice staff to provide comprehensive and quality care services to patients. The APRN engages in independent decision making regarding a patient’s healthcare concerns and works with autonomy, within their scope of service, under the medical oversight of KCH&PC’s Medical Director and oversight from the Palliative Care Medical Director program with a partner hospital.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess the Following Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Nursing and appropriate designation as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Knowledge of health education theory and practice; clinical operations and procedures; current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in hospice and palliative care.
- Valid, unencumbered APRN license in Missouri and Kansas required.
- Valid NPI and DEA numbers.
- Two (2) to four (4) years prior RN experience in a medical specialty involved in the care and treatment of patients diagnosed with serious, advanced or terminal illnesses, Oncology, Pain & Symptom Management, Palliative Care, and/or Hospice care, required.
- One (1) year prior APRN work experience, preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, preferred.
- Prior working knowledge of Electronic Medical Systems (EMRs) required; prior experience with Cerner preferred.
- Valid CPR with hands-on certification required.
