Description
Under direct supervision, welcomes and assists students, employees, and the general public in a friendly and courteous manner; receives and routes incoming calls accurately; assists with bulk mailings or special projects; and performs routine office functions at the college's main reception desk.
Examples of Duties
A. Greets and assists students, faculty and staff.
B. Answers phones and assists callers.
C. Assists in preparing bulk mailings, posts canceled classes, and other miscellaneous tasks.
D. Distributes marketing materials on campus, e.g. posters, table tents, etc.
E. Assists in the setup, takedown and coordination of various Student Life events.
Other Responsibilities:
A. Performs other duties as assigned.
B. Responds to the functions of the position in an environmental setting hich might include cold, heat, odor, dampness, dirt, fumes, dust, oil, grease, noise, or vibration on a frequent basis. Appropriate protective devices are available as required.
Minimum Qualifications
A. High school diploma or equivalent required.
B. Must be able to interact with others in a professional manner.
C. Must have excellent communication skills.
D. Must be able to work independently and effectively with others.
E. Must be able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
F. Must be a current student at Kankakee Community College enrolled in six or more credit hours during fall or spring semesters. For summer employment, student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours in the summer term and/or six or more credit hours during fall semester.
G. Student is required to read and agree to the KCC Student Employment Agreement.
H. Federal Work-Study students should also read and agree to the program rules and regulations.
I. Work schedule and hours may vary and are determined by each department's need. Maximum of 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. Maximum of 29 hours when classes are not in session or during the summer.
J. Qualified candidate must be functionally literate in reading, writing, and computation skills as well as computer literate or willing to learn.
Supplemental Information
Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour eff 1/1/26.
