Accounting Clerk - Kane's Furniture
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support our accounting and payroll operations. This role is responsible for accounts payable processing, assisting with payroll activities, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and comfortable working with accounting systems and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Review, match, and verify purchase orders, invoices, and receiving documents
- Code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts
- Ensure invoices are properly authorized and comply with company policies
- Identify and prevent duplicate or incorrect payments
- Schedule and process payments, optimizing available discounts
- Maintain accurate AP records and documentation
Vendor Management
- Serve as a point of contact for vendor inquiries
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain positive and professional vendor relationships
Payroll Support
- Assist in collecting and validating employee timekeeping data
- Review hours worked, PTO, and pay-related data for accuracy
- Input payroll data and review preliminary payroll reports
- Identify and escalate discrepancies for correction
- Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation
- Support payroll deadlines and year-end processes (e.g., W-2 distribution)
- Respond to basic payroll-related inquiries
General Accounting & Administrative Support
- Assist accounting and payroll teams as needed
- Maintain organized and secure records and files
- Communicate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies
- Support special projects and additional accounting duties
- Ensure confidentiality of financial and employee information
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Additional coursework in accounting or bookkeeping preferred
Experience
- 1–2 years of accounts payable or accounting experience preferred
- Payroll support experience is a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping
- Familiarity with accounts payable systems and processes
- Working knowledge of payroll systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to analyze and cross-reference financial data
- Proficiency in spreadsheets and accounting software
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Team-oriented with a willingness to support others
