What are the responsibilities and job description for the QA Engineer – Mobile / VoIP / Real-Time Communications position at Kane Partners LLC?
We’re working with a global software company that develops mission-critical communication solutions used in industries where reliable, real-time communication is essential.
We’re looking for a hands-on QA Engineer who enjoys digging into issues and figuring out why something isn’t working. This is more than simply executing test cases. You’ll be testing mobile and web applications, backend systems, integrations, and real-time communication workflows while working closely with R&D, Product, and Delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Perform functional, integration, regression, sanity, and acceptance testing
- Test Android, iOS, web applications, backend services, and data flows
- Validate real-time communication workflows and third-party integrations
- Test across multiple system layers including client, backend, network, integration, and environment
- Investigate defects by analyzing application, device, server, and network logs
- Use evidence and system behavior to help isolate root cause
- Document and track defects in Jira, including reproduction steps, logs, evidence, and impact
- Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, ATPs, and validation documentation
- Support production, release, patch, and customer-specific validation
- Identify opportunities for test automation and contribute to automated test development and maintenance
- Monitor QA metrics including test progress, coverage, defect trends, and release quality
- Work closely with R&D, Delivery, Product, and other QA teams to communicate quality status, risks, and blockers
What We’re Looking For
- 3 years of software QA/testing experience
- Hands-on experience testing mobile applications, particularly Android and/or iOS
- Experience with web and backend testing
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and defect lifecycle
- Comfortable troubleshooting using logs, network behavior, and system interactions
- Working knowledge of Linux
- Experience with Jira or a similar defect-tracking system
- Exposure to test automation and the ability to work with or troubleshoot automated tests
- Strong analytical and investigative skills — you naturally move from symptom → evidence → root cause → validation
Experience That Will Stand Out
- VoIP / SIP / RTP / real-time communications
- PTT / MCPTT environments
- RoIP
- 3GPP testing or integrations
- Telecom or communications software
- Testing connected devices, accessories, or peripherals
- Selenium, Playwright, Appium, Python, Java, or similar automation tools
- Testing large-scale or distributed systems
- ISTQB or similar certification
- French language skills
If you’re a QA Engineer who likes troubleshooting, investigating defects, and understanding what’s happening behind the application, this could be a great opportunity.
