We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting, financial operations, and HR administration for a growing privately held organization. This is a highly visible role where you will act as the top financial leader, partnering directly with ownership and executive leadership.

What You’ll Do
Financial Leadership & Reporting
· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
· Develop cash flow forecasts and financial projections
· Analyze margins, costs, and project-level profitability
· Allocate net income across ownership structure
· Partner with external accountants on year-end review and tax filings
Accounts Payable & Receivable
· Oversee vendor payments and weekly AP cycles
· Manage expense reporting and credit card reconciliations
· Generate client invoices and align billing with project milestones
· Monitor receivables and lead collections efforts
Payroll & Benefits
· Run bi-weekly payroll (approx. 35–40 employees) via ADP
· Administer 401(k), including contributions and employer match
· Lead benefits enrollment, renewals, and broker coordination
Treasury & Operations
· Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash position
· Manage banking relationships and letters of credit
· Oversee purchasing accounts and vendor platforms
Compliance & Close
· Manage month-end and year-end close processes
· Ensure compliance with filings, insurance policies, and reporting requirements
· Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation
HR Administration (No Dedicated HR Team)
· Coordinate hiring, onboarding, and employee offboarding
· Draft offer letters, policies, and handbook materials
· Manage benefits documentation and personnel records
· Support recruiting efforts (job postings and interviews)
Systems & Tools
· QuickBooks Online
· ADP Workforce Now
· SAP Concur
· Microsoft 365 (Excel, SharePoint)
· Various vendor invoicing platforms
What We’re Looking For
· CPA required
· 5 years of progressive accounting experience
· Prior experience in a Controller or Senior Accountant role
· Background in small to mid-sized companies with full ownership of accounting
· Strong knowledge of payroll and benefits administration
· Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and Excel
· Comfortable handling HR responsibilities in a lean environment
· Construction or project-based accounting experience is a plus
· Self-starter with the ability to operate independently
