What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical & Instrumentation Technician position at KaMin LLC?
Purpose of Job:
To install and maintain computerized process control instrumentation, inspect and troubleshoot faulty equipment, and maintain designated electronic and electric equipment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Replace lighting fixtures, ballasts, and bulbs throughout plant, labs, and offices.
- Install conduit and pull wire for new installation or repair of lighting and electrical equipment.
- Troubleshoot three phase motor circuits including variable frequency drives and motor controls of all types.
- Install and/or replace electric motors, switches, receptacles, solenoids, thermocouples, fuses, transformers, sensors, transmitters, etc.
- Perform a variety of duties to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant process control systems.
- Maintain records and systems to achieve a high standard of preventative maintenance work that meets quality engineering standards.
- Assist electrical supervisor with implementation of electrical automation systems for the computerized control of process equipment.
- Maintain computerized control systems including Allen-Bradley PLCs and Foxboro DCS systems.
- Wear appropriate personal safety protection, follow prescribed procedures, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
- May perform other duties.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed mostly in a plant environment.
- Must work day and evening shifts and may be required to work overtime.
- Frequently exerts up to 50 lbs. of force to push, pull, or lift objects.
- Requires significant standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and reaching.
- Requires climbing on various plant structures where electrical or instrument devices exist.
- Works both inside and outside and is exposed to environmental conditions.
- Works around machinery and moving equipment and frequently exposed to noise, vibrations, chemicals, dust, fumes, slippery conditions, and radiation.
- Personal safety/health protection is required including eye, head, and hearing protection. Requires wearing FR rated uniforms that are provided by company, to comply with NFPA 70E requirements.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Minimum high school degree/GED. Higher education and/or licenses or certificates a plus.
- Must have knowledge of and abide by the National Electric Code.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and electrical diagrams.
- Full understanding of electrical/instrumentation systems.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to drive company vehicles between facilities.
- Initiative oriented; ability to independently perform job functions with minimal supervision.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
- Ability to do quality work safely.
