Athenix Advanced Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center is seeking an experienced peri-operative nurse to join our dynamic team in our state-of-the-art cosmetic surgery center.

Overview of daily job duties for Registered Nurse/Surgical OR Nurse
- Checking in patients for procedures including IV starts, chart preparation, patient preparation and, at times, sterile field set-up
- Circulate various cosmetic surgery cases and assist anesthetist as needed
- Perform moderate IV sedation for specific cases
- Patient recovery from procedures (PACU)
- Perform pre-operative and follow-up appointments for all procedure types

Qualifications:
- Provide safe, professional nursing care in clinic and perioperative settings, following policies, procedures, HIPAA, infection-control, and controlled-substance regulations.
- Triage, assess, and document patient histories and vital signs; obtain consents and maintain accurate medical records and photos.
- Prepare exam, pre-op and post-op areas; maintain clean, stocked, and organized clinical spaces and supplies.
- Coordinate perioperative care: review charts for clearance (labs, EKGs, meds), contact patients for missing items, assist with check-in/check-out, and notify caregivers/families of status.
- Perform pre- and post-operative nursing tasks including wound care, dressing changes, drain/staple/suture removal, seroma aspiration, and discharge teaching.
- Administer medications and treatments per orders: start IVs, give IV/IM/subcutaneous meds, prepare/handle local meds, assist with injectables, and perform point-of-care testing.
- Follow narcotics control procedures, manage medication inventory, and document/dispose of expired or recalled medications.
- Respond to emergencies: provide CPR/AED, ambu-bag ventilation, venipuncture, emergency medications, and other immediate interventions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff; provide patient education, follow-up calls, and service-oriented responses to concerns.
- Support clinic operations: maintain logs (implant/pathology), assist with specimen handling and lab coordination, participate in supply/inventory checks, chart audits, staff meetings, and continuous education.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, time management, and patient confidentiality while contributing to quality improvement and a positive patient experience.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current state RN licensure.
- Must have and always maintain a current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).
- Minimum one year of nursing experience required.
- Plastic surgery clinic setting experience required.
- PreOP/PACU Experience very important and strongly desired for this role.
- Familiar with all the field’s concepts, practices and procedures.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all members of staff, both verbal and written.
- Good judgment, supervision, listening, creativity, conflict resolution and leadership skills.
- Attention to detail, organized, reliable and confident with patients.
