About the Role:
The Production Shift Supervisor at Kalmbach Feeds, Inc. is responsible for the daily operation of the feed mill and feed production process. The Production Shift Supervisor coordinates feed production while utilizing scheduling tools to ensure that times are met, and the customers are being serviced efficiently. The selected individual will lead safety, housekeeping and continuous improvement initiatives while simultaneously meeting quality standards. A key to success in this role is the ability to effectively communicate issues and downtime to ensure a consistent work environment across all shifts. The Production Shift Supervisor will streamline SOP’s and strengthen policies, updating Team Members through daily huddle meetings. This opportunity is a “working supervisor”, with direct leadership of the production team and the ability to step in and help when assistance is needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service and quality.
- Ensures the overall workflow of the feed manufacturing operation is being run in an efficient and precise manner.
- Working with the inventory and receiving supervisor to ensure there is no unnecessary downtime due to low ingredient levels.
- Maintaining equipment, putting in work requests, and communicating issues to be proactive while minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Maintaining a safe work environment for staff and visitors.
- Overseeing grounds, security, and housekeeping of mill facilities.
- Must be available to work extended hours.
- Lead preventative maintenance measures when mill downtime occurs.
The Right Candidate:
- Willing and able to work a 2-2-3 night shift schedule, paid weekly at an hourly rate.
- Has a high internal drive and the natural ability for relationship building, and leadership in a team environment.
- Proficient in all Windows based programs and familiar with ERP and MES Systems
- 3 (three) years of supervisory / leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrate exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills to address operational challenges through technical solutions.
- Ability to multi-task and work with multiple projects and tasks
- Ability to squat, stoop, bend, and lift 50 pounds on a repetitive basis
