Kalmar Solutions LLC is looking for a driven and experienced Senior Development Engineer, Mechanics for the Terminal Tractor Product Development team based in Ottawa, KS. This person will be responsible for developing and supporting mechanical systems for current and future terminal tractor (TT) projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate a broad understanding of systems and system-interactions for both diesel and electric powered Kalmar (TT), as they will design subsystems to meet global customer needs, legislation and internal requirements. This position is vital for the delivery of the Terminal Tractor Division Product Strategy Roadmap.
Compensation Data
Base Salary: $110-$135k per year
Eligible for Annual Bonus
Eligible for Annual Salary Review & Merit Increase

What Are Your Key Responsibilities
Customer Driven - According to customer demands, choose design solutions, materials, and components.
Design Specifications - Define specifications for mechanical components and systems.Ensure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal demands for TT products.
Project Deliverables - Perform activities according to specified requirements and time schedules.
Cross- Functional processes -Contribute toward cooperation between product development, sourcing, and operations.
Verification and Validation - Define component verification and validation test requirements.
Collaboration - collaborate with Test and Validation engineers to confirm system performance.
Technical Resource - Serve as a technical resource to assist in creating sales and service literature.
Team Influence - Positively contribute during team design reviews to further improve. Coordinate work with internal and external engineers.
Related duties - Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education
What you bring to the role:
- Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years experience in product design.
- Mobile equipment experience preferred.
- Experience with electrical or control systems is a plus.
- Theoretical and applied knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electric vehicle or diesel systems.
- 3D CAD systems, CATIA V5 experience preferred.
- 3DExperience preferred.
- Strong aptitude toward mechanical design.
- Good communication skills.
- Fluent in English both in speaking and writing.
- Will be required to work closely with other TT RDE personnel, Project Managers, Sourcing & Production groups worldwide.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally will be required
- Business is conducted in English
- This role is part of a global team operating out of both Tampere Finland and Ottawa Kansas.
- Hybrid work available: 3 days in office per week required
