Overview
Kalkaal Home Care Inc. is hiring a patient, consistent 1:1 in-home support worker for a creative, active 8-year-old boy with ADHD in Wayzata, MN. He loves Legos, drawing, arts and crafts, and soccer, and he's very social. The role combines after-school skill-building with his family and respite time where you'll be a steady, trusted adult in his life. It's a busy household with younger siblings, so calm structure and follow-through matter more than anything else.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday: 3:30–7:30 PM (after school)
- Respite: 16 hours per week, days and times arranged with the family
- Starting mid-October
Responsibilities
- Support after-school routines: homework time, snacks, staying on task, and the transition into his evening and bedtime routine
- Work alongside his guardian to build a routine plan for the home and keep it going
- Coach self-regulation and coping skills, and calmly redirect and de-escalate when emotions run high
- Provide consistent supervision and help him move between activities
- During respite, plan 1:1 activities at home and in the community, like parks, active play, and arts and crafts
- Document each shift per agency requirements
Qualifications
- Experience with children with ADHD or behavioral needs preferred
- Calm, patient, and consistent, able to set limits kindly and stick to them
- Active and up for outdoor play and sports
- Comfortable coaching a parent or guardian, not just working with the child
- Dependable for a set weekly schedule
- Must pass a DHS background study (NETStudy 2.0)
- Understands mandated-reporter responsibilities
Pay: $25.00 per hour
