Job Title: Alternative Family Living (AFL) Provider
Job Type: Full-time / Live-In
Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and professional Alternative Family Living (AFL) Provider to provide care and support for an individual with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in the provider’s home. In this role, the client will move into the provider’s home, where the provider will offer a safe, stable, and supportive family-style living environment.
The AFL Provider will assist with daily living needs, promote independence, support community involvement, and help ensure the overall health, safety, and well-being of the individual receiving services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide a safe, clean, and supportive home environment for the individual living in the provider’s home
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, and household routines, as needed
- Support the individual with building and maintaining independent living skills
- Encourage socialization, community involvement, and participation in meaningful activities
- Provide transportation to appointments, outings, and other approved activities, as needed
- Monitor the individual’s health, behavior, and overall well-being and report concerns promptly
- Administer or assist with medication in accordance with training and agency policy
- Complete required documentation, including daily notes, medication records, and incident reports
- Follow the individual’s service plan, behavior support plan, and all health and safety guidelines
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect for the individual at all times
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
- Must be able to pass all required background checks
- Background checks will be conducted on all household members living in the home
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong communication, organization, and care giving skills
- Ability to provide a stable, caring, and structured home environment
Work Setting:
- Provider’s home
- Live-in support
- Community-based support as needed
Schedule:
- Based on the needs of the individual receiving services
Pay: From $19.00 per hour
