Job Description
Responsible to provide general clerical and receptionist duties for the department. Responsible for helping to ensure the safety of patients and staff on the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU). Responds to the alarm system.; monitors the video surveillance cameras; communicates patient’s problems to the charge nurse; makes rounds throughout the unit as assigned; ensures that patient rights are protected by providing a safe and therapeutic environment; assists with Utilization Review using the Affinity documentation and contacting insurance companies.
Education And Credentials
High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree in a business related field preferred. BLS certification. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) course completion and ongoing annual completion. Valid drivers license.
Experience
Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in a behavioral health setting. Able to interact in a professional manner with outside agencies and internal departments. Able to assist in the provision of direct and indirect patient care when other duties allow. Able to maintain composure and effectiveness in emergency situations and when handling multiple priorities. Basic understanding of Microsoft Office. Able to think critically about patient care needs and assist with treatment planning.
